Zoosk

Blocked on Zoosk?
It may not be what you did - it may be where you were.

Zoosk runs in three countries and the US territories - sign in from anywhere else and Zoosk says that alone can block or flag the account.

The map can be the trigger.

US, Canada, Australia, US territories. Anywhere else, VPNs included, Zoosk says it can block or flag your account.

The trap: Apple and Google keep charging.

A block cancels a website subscription. Zoosk says it cannot stop an App Store or Play charge. Cancel that one yourself.

There is a door, and it says “in error”.

Zoosk’s blocked-account article tells you to contact Customer Support if you believe the block was an error. Email only: Zoosk says it has no customer service phone number.

Then: the ladder.

Your own data file, then the public record. Both free, both in the guide.

Appealing a Zoosk block, step by step

1. Rule out geography before you write a word. Zoosk says signing in from outside the United States, Canada, Australia and US territories “can block or flag your account”. A VPN does it to you at home, so turn it off and try again first. If you were travelling, Zoosk’s own instruction is to wait until you are back, then write and give it the dates and the country.

2. Check whether a thread is already open. Zoosk says this twice: if you have emailed them, or had any reply, answer on that email rather than filing again, because starting over “can slow things down”. A second ticket is not extra pressure.

3. File once, with what they ask for. The documented routes are the contact form in the Zoosk Help Center and [email protected]; in the app, the paper-and-pencil icon at the top right of the Help Center opens the same form. Include the email address on the account, a clear description of the problem, and screenshot the block screen first. Zoosk frames this around a block made “in error”, so write an error argument, not an apology. We build the wording and file it in your name, and copy you when it goes. We never ask for your password.

4. Refused or ignored? Start the ladder. Zoosk is run by Black Cap Holdings, LLC of Jersey City. First the access request - make them show what flagged you. Black Cap’s privacy policy lists an access right, taken by email, by post, or through the Zoosk help centre; in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and Virginia the state clock is 45 days plus 45, with a 60-day appeal behind the last four. Ignored, your Attorney General logs the pattern rather than ruling on your block. A BBB complaint is opt-in, US and Canada residents only, on a 14-day company clock and public for three years: it builds the file, it does not lift blocks. There is no European rung here. No certified Article 21 dispute body lists Zoosk, and Black Cap’s privacy policy says the platform is intended for the United States, Canada and Australia, with no support designed to meet GDPR requirements. Those filings accept a third party, so we file them in your name. The guide has the filing instructions.

Why “blocked” is doing two jobs

Zoosk uses one word for two unrelated things. Member-to-member blocking is private between two people, and Zoosk says it is permanent and cannot be undone; reporting someone blocks them automatically, and reports are anonymous. An account block is enforcement, and it is the one you can argue with. Zoosk lists five common causes: terms violations, a fake or duplicate profile, suspicious or fraudulent activity, multiple member reports, and signing in from an unsupported location. Underneath sits the harder fact: Black Cap’s Terms of Use contain no appeal clause at all. The appeal lives in the help centre, not in the contract, which is why the routes outside Zoosk matter when it says no. A fresh account is not the escape hatch either: Zoosk’s eligibility rules bar anyone previously banned or removed. That is the drafting judgment you can hire. We never guarantee reinstatement; the decision belongs to Zoosk.

What Zoosk does not publish

  • How a block decision is made. The blocked-account article lists the causes and stops there. Whether a person or a system decided yours is not stated.
  • Which of the five causes applied to you. Nothing there promises you a reason, which is why a good filing answers the likeliest cause rather than asking for it.
  • How long a review takes. Zoosk publishes 24 to 48 hours as its typical first response to a ticket, and nothing about the decision behind it. No app promises a time, and neither do we.
  • Any deadline for asking. No appeal window is published. Sooner is better, and silence is your cue to climb a rung rather than refile.
  • What comes back if the block is lifted. Your profile, matches, messages and the cancelled web subscription: none of it is addressed.
  • How many blocks get reversed. Zoosk is not an EU service and reports no appeal or reversal figures. Nobody outside the company knows the odds, so anyone quoting you one is guessing.

We build it. We file it. From $69.
