“Removed” - no reason given?
Hinge reverses one in three.

Hinge’s own 2025 EU figure: 86,650 appeals, 31,251 reversed, 36.1%.

Intake first. Payment after. Not taken on = refunded.

Hinge gives you a box to write in.

Tinder’s appeal has no statement field at all. Hinge’s does. Hinge prints no length limit, but keep it short and specific, because that box is the entire case.

The trap: emailing them.

Hinge’s help centre says messages sent to staff outside the appeal flow are not processed - and chasing moves your case down the queue, not up it. The other apps’ channels are compared in email or phone number to appeal a dating app ban.

Asked for ID? Send it.

Hinge may demand identity documents before it accepts the appeal at all. Send them: without the ID the appeal cannot go in, and Hinge says a passport may speed it up outside the US.

Then: the routes they don’t advertise.

The Match Group escalation team, the EU referee, your own data file: the guide explains each. A new account is not one of them: Hinge says a banned member “will not be able to create a new Hinge account”. What stands behind that sentence is in can you get around a Hinge ban.

Appealing a Hinge removal, step by step

1. Screenshot everything now. The removal notice, any emails, your subscription records. Read the notice to the bottom: it can carry the last date for an appeal. Hinge’s notice rarely names the specific violation, and the decision on your appeal usually arrives by email with no reason attached either. Your own record is the only part of this file you control, so build it before you write a word.

2. Appeal in the app. Only in the app. Hinge takes appeals through the in-app Appeal button and nothing else: its help centre says messages sent to staff outside that flow are not processed, and chasing pushes your case back down the queue. So it is one filing, made properly, and then silence from your side. Hire us and we write the appeal for you to send from your own account, then file the routes outside the app in your name, copying you on each. We never ask for your password.

3. Keep it short, and name the likely trigger. Hinge’s help centre lists three things behind a ban: reports from other users, its moderation team, and automated decision-making. In Hinge’s 2025 EU report, 445,488 of 633,534 measures, about 70 per cent, were enacted by automated systems. So think about your last days on the app: an argument, an unmatch, a conversation gone sour, a new number, a failed selfie check. Naming the likely trigger calmly, and answering it, is the strongest thing that box can do. Facts, dates, what changed. Hinge prints no length limit, but a paragraph of outrage tells the reviewer nothing they can check. The proof for each trigger is in wrongly banned from Hinge.

4. Check your Match Group history. Ever banned on Tinder, OkCupid, Match or Plenty of Fish - even years ago? Say so and address it. Cross-brand enforcement means an old ban elsewhere may be the real reason a clean Hinge account died, and an appeal that ignores it answers the wrong question.

5. Asked for ID? Send it. Hinge may demand identity documents before it will accept the appeal at all. That is not the refusal it feels like. It is the platform doing the work of establishing that you are a real person, and Hinge says that outside the US a passport may speed up the process.

6. Denied, or silent for weeks? Three routes stay open, none of them through Hinge’s own queue. The Match Group escalation team at matchgroup-socialsupport.com is a second human look across every account the group owns; it needs your customer-care ticket reference and you get it once. In the EU, an Article 21 dispute body, and Hinge has three of them. Platform Control in Germany is the one named for Hinge in the European Commission’s register: free, in German or English including the disputed content itself, within 365 days of the action, and you do not have to have appealed in-app first. ADR Center in Italy and ADR Point in Greece name Hinge on their own complaint forms instead: free to you, both after the in-app appeal, ADR Center within twelve months, ADR Point stating no deadline but asking for a copy of your ID. None of the three binds Hinge. On Match Group’s own 2025 figures, 636 Hinge disputes went to bodies like these and 161 decisions were reversed. And an access request for the file behind the decision. Hinge must answer within one month in the EU and UK, extendable for complex requests, and it can withhold what a reporter said. In the founder’s own case, Hinge’s Data Protection Office wrote that the ban “originated on Tinder”. What does not work is sending again the same appeal. The in-app button stays yours, because it has to. Outside it, Platform Control’s rules expressly allow a lawyer or other authorised representative to act for you, while ADR Center and ADR Point allow a lawyer or adviser to assist you, so we build the filing and it goes under your name. The guide covers each with instructions for sending.

Why “banned for no reason” usually has one

Hinge doesn’t ban randomly. It bans on signals: a burst of reports, a payment dispute, a photo-verification mismatch, a linked Match Group account’s history. “No reason” almost always means “a reason nobody told you”, and the decision email is unlikely to fill the gap either. The appeal’s job is to guess the reason credibly and answer it in a few short paragraphs. That is the drafting judgment you can hire. We never guarantee reinstatement. The decision always belongs to the platform. The grounds Hinge reports to the EU are in why Hinge bans people.

Quick answers

How long do appeals take? Hinge’s own 2025 median was 19 hours, so half took longer. No app promises a time, and neither do we. Silence is your cue to move to the next route, never to refile the first one.

How long have I got? Read your ban screen. Hinge’s help centre and Terms give no appeal deadline, but the screen can. The one published in the founder’s own case reads: “you may submit an appeal by no later than 17 January 2024. Otherwise, your account will remain permanently banned.” If yours prints a date, that is your deadline. If it prints none, sooner is still better, while your evidence and dates are fresh. The two years people quote is a safety retention window in Hinge’s privacy policy, not the length of the ban, and the same policy keeps the data that stops a banned member opening a new account “for as long as necessary”. Is a Hinge ban permanent?

Does deleting the app help? No - the removal lives on the account and its identifiers, not the install. Deleting the account is worse: the ban record survives it, and your evidence doesn’t. If you cannot tell whether yours was deleted or banned, Hinge account deleted separates the five cases.

Still being charged? If you bought through the App Store or Google Play, the refund lives in your own store account rather than in Hinge. Hinge’s web purchases run through Stripe on a 14-day window. Do not raise a chargeback: it is a named ban trigger in Hinge’s terms and it ends the refund rights you were about to use.

Should I just make a new account? No. Hinge’s help centre says “If your account is Banned, you will not be able to create a new Hinge account”, and its Terms bar one unless you have Hinge’s “express written permission”. A new account usually dies on the same number, payment method or face, and hands Hinge a second breach to cite. The routes above all work on the account you already have.

Can someone else appeal my Hinge ban for me? Not the in-app appeal. Hinge says it can only process appeals “submitted through this designated in-app flow”, which runs on your own login, though anyone can help you write it. Outside the app, someone acting for you can file the Match Group escalation form, an access request through Hinge’s privacy request form and, for EU residents, a certified dispute body. We file those in your name; the dispute-body case is part of The Advocate.

More questions people type

Why was my Hinge account banned?

Hinge often does not say. Its help centre lists reports from other users, its moderation team and automated decision-making, and in its 2025 EU report about 70% of measures (445,488 of 633,534) were enacted by automated systems. The usual hidden causes are a report, an old ban on a sibling Match Group app, a verification mismatch and a payment dispute. The seven real triggers go through each.

Can you get unbanned from Hinge?

Some people do. Hinge reversed 31,251 of the 86,650 account appeals it received in the EU in 2025, 36.1%, at a median of 19 hours. That is Hinge’s number and the decision is Hinge’s alone. If the ban began on Tinder, appeal Tinder first. How the Hinge appeal works.

How do I appeal a Hinge ban?

In the app, from the banned login, through the Appeal button: Hinge’s help centre says messages sent to staff outside that flow are not processed. Send one short, specific appeal that names the likely trigger. If it is denied or ignored, three routes stay open outside the app: the Match Group escalation form, an EU dispute body if you live there, and an access request for your file. The full sequence.

How long does a Hinge ban last, and is it permanent?

By default there is no end date. Hinge’s 2025 EU report says it does not apply account suspensions, so there is no timed ban to wait out, and nothing in its Terms sets a length. The two years people quote is a retention window in its Privacy Policy, not the length of the ban. Is a Hinge ban permanent?

Does Hinge shadowban?

Hinge does not use the term and tells the EU it demotes nobody. A quiet profile usually has a documented cause, so rule out Your Turn limits, a removed photo, a warning and an unfinished check first. The Hinge shadow ban guide has the checklist and the access request that makes Hinge answer in writing.

Why does Hinge verification keep failing, and is it a ban?

A failed selfie check is not a ban. Hinge’s Face Check page, updated 29 July 2026, says that until verification is complete you cannot access Discover, send likes or use many core features, and Hinge publishes no limit on attempts. The system compares your selfie video with your profile photos. Every message explained.
