Can you be banned from Facebook Dating? What Meta publishes, what it leaves out, and the appeal that exists

Yes. Meta says it may restrict which Facebook accounts can access Dating, and it publishes no appeal route of Dating’s own. The only appeal it documents is Facebook’s. Before you appeal, check you were restricted at all: a failed video selfie or a VPN can shut Dating without being enforcement. For the words people search, shadowban, disabled and blocked, see Facebook Dating shadowban, disabled or blocked.

Intake first. Payment after. Not taken on = refunded.

The short version
✓Dating sits inside your Facebook account. Meta’s words: “We may restrict which Facebook accounts can access Dating.” It needs “a Facebook account in good standing that is at least 30 days old”.
✓Four different things look like a ban: a suspended or disabled Facebook account, a removed post, Dating gone while Facebook works, and a block that is not enforcement at all (an unpassed video selfie, or a location mismatch).
✓For a suspension the appeal is the login screen: there is no form. Meta’s help page puts the window at 180 days and says it varies by region. Miss it and the account is permanently disabled.
✓Meta publishes no Dating appeal, no turnaround and no reason code for Dating. We never guarantee reinstatement: the decision belongs to Meta.

Can you be banned from Facebook Dating?

Yes, in the sense that matters: Meta can stop your account using Dating. Its own words are “We may restrict which Facebook accounts can access Dating.” The reasons it gives are being under 18, having a new or inactive account, and breaking its policies. It never says which one is yours. The same words explain a quiet profile: the test for that is shadowban test.

Dating is not a separate account that Meta bans on its own. It sits inside your Facebook account, it can be taken away while Facebook keeps working, and a suspended or disabled Facebook account takes it with it. That is why there is no Dating-only ban page and no Dating-only appeal. The Facebook Dating Safety Policy carries one line about appealing, “Learn how to appeal a violation of our Community Standards”, and it links to Facebook’s own review article.

Four things that look like a ban

1. A suspended or disabled Facebook account. You log in and see “We’ve suspended your account” or “We’ve disabled your account”. Dating goes with it.

2. Something you posted was taken down. Facebook’s terms say a Community Standards removal comes with notice and any options to request another review, with exceptions that include serious or repeated violations.

3. Dating is gone but Facebook works normally. Meta documents no separate Dating appeal, so the thing to overturn is whatever sits on the Facebook account: a strike, a takedown, or a restriction listed in Account Status.

4. Not enforcement at all. An unpassed video-selfie verification shuts Dating until the selfie matches a profile photo, and a location mismatch, which Meta says a VPN can cause, interrupts Dating. Meta documents both as ordinary states, not bans. If you use a VPN, rule that out first.

One appeal is yours to send. The routes outside the app, we file.

We work out which routes are actually open to you, write the appeal where the app gives you a box for one, and file the routes outside the app in your name, the first inside 48 hours. We never ask for your password. Intake first, payment after.

Check Account Status before you write anything

Open your profile picture, then Help and support, then Account Status. Meta says it lists any restrictions on your profile and any Community Standards strikes. It is the nearest thing to a charge sheet you get, and screenshot it either way: an empty one is evidence too.

Worth knowing

Meta publishes the causes and not the cure. The three reasons it gives for restricting Dating never say which is yours, and it publishes no turnaround for a Dating decision, so nobody can honestly quote you one.

The appeal, case by case

A post was removed. Open your profile picture, your name, Options, then Profile status. Open the takedown message and choose Request review. Meta says the option is not offered for every kind of content.

The account is suspended. The appeal is the login screen, and there is no form: Meta says to log in and you will be prompted. Its help page puts that window at 180 days and then adds that the period varies by region, so treat 180 days as the outside case and file in the first week. Miss the window or lose the appeal and the account is permanently disabled, at which point, in Meta’s words, you “won’t be able to request another review of the decision”.

Dating is gone and Facebook is fine. Find what sits on the Facebook account and challenge that. Meta documents no appeal for Dating itself.

Sharing a login breaks Meta’s terms, so the appeal inside the app is yours to send. Our guide to writing an appeal that gets read has an example of what goes in the box.

What Meta does not publish

These gaps are why the honest answer is short. Anyone who fills them for you is guessing.

Not sure any of this applies to you?

The case check is free and takes two minutes. It tells you which routes are open on your ban, including the cases where it tells you not to pay anyone.

The routes that are left

Your own data file. The access request is open almost everywhere: Article 15 in the EU and UK, the CCPA in California, and equivalents across other US states. Ask for what Meta holds on you, never for deletion: erasure leaves the ban record standing and destroys both your evidence and the login the appeal runs on. It takes a month in the EU and UK, extendable by two if Meta calls it complex.

The EU referee, honestly. No certified body lists Facebook Dating. But a Dating loss is often a Facebook account action, and certified Article 21 bodies do cover those: Appeals Centre Europe reviews Facebook decisions to suspend or disable an account for anyone located in the EU, and Germany’s User Rights GmbH is named for Facebook in the European Commission’s register. Neither lists Facebook Dating, so it is the Facebook decision you would take there, never the Dating one. Whether either would take a Dating case, nobody can promise.

The Oversight Board. It takes content decisions only, after Facebook’s final answer and within 15 days of it, and it does not decide access to Dating. Meta’s page on it is the place to check the current rules.

What not to do

Do not make a new account. Facebook’s terms say that if it disables your account you agree not to create another without permission, and that permission “does not mean or imply that the disciplinary action was wrong”. Dating wants an account at least 30 days old and in good standing, so a new one costs you the wait and the appeal both. Why the reset is dying explains how these links are made.

Do not pay anyone who promises to get Dating back. Nobody can promise Meta’s decision. We never ask for your password, and no honest service will.

Do not assume you were banned. Rule out the video selfie and the location mismatch first. The ban, challenge, glitch and shadowban guide shows how to tell them apart.

We never guarantee reinstatement. What we can do is show which routes are open for your case; the free check takes two minutes, and the Facebook Dating route page has the short version.

Questions people actually ask

Can you be banned from Facebook Dating?

Yes. Meta says it may restrict which Facebook accounts can access Dating. The reasons it gives are being under 18, having a new or inactive account, and breaking its policies, and it does not say which applies to you.

Can you get banned from Facebook Dating without being banned from Facebook?

Yes. Dating can go while Facebook works normally. Meta documents no separate Dating appeal, so the thing to challenge is whatever sits on the Facebook account: a strike, a takedown, or a restriction listed in Account Status.

Did I get banned from Facebook Dating?

Check four things in order. Does Facebook itself say your account is suspended or disabled? Was a post or profile item taken down? Does Account Status list a restriction? And are you looking at an unpassed video selfie or a location mismatch, which Meta documents as ordinary states rather than bans?

How do I get unbanned from Facebook Dating?

There is no Dating-only route. For a suspended account, log in and you will be prompted to appeal; for a removed post, use Request review in Profile status. Meta’s help page puts the appeal window at 180 days and says it varies by region, so file in the first week.

Is there a Facebook Dating appeal form?

Not one of its own. The Facebook Dating Safety Policy carries a single line, “Learn how to appeal a violation of our Community Standards”, and links to Facebook’s own review article.

Why am I blocked from Facebook Dating?

Meta lists three reasons for restricting access: under 18, a new or inactive account, and policies broken. It does not say which applies to you, so check Account Status, and rule out the two states that are not enforcement first: an unpassed video selfie and a location mismatch.

Can a VPN get me banned from Facebook Dating?

Meta says a location mismatch, which a VPN can cause, interrupts Dating, and it documents that as an ordinary state rather than a ban. If you use a VPN, rule that out before you assume enforcement.

Can I make a new Facebook account to use Dating again?

No, and it fails twice. Facebook’s terms say that if it disables your account you agree not to create another without permission, and Dating wants a Facebook account in good standing that is at least 30 days old, so a new account costs you the wait and the appeal.
