Meta’s pages never use the word shadowban for Dating. They do document three different things: a ranking system with integrity measures, three reasons you can lose access, and two blocks that are not enforcement. Which one you have decides what to do.
Intake first. Payment after. Not taken on = refunded.
Two quick answers and an address. We email you a letter built for what happened, with the facts only you can find marked, and where to find each one.
We send it now, then check in a few times over the next week to see how it went. One click stops that.
There is no Facebook Dating shadowban in Meta’s own words, but there are three documented states that can look like one. A ranking system orders profiles and applies unspecified “integrity measures”; Meta can restrict which accounts reach Dating at all; and two checks, a verification prompt and a location mismatch, block you without being a penalty. AppealMyBan handles the restriction case: we read which state you are in, write what you send and file what a third party may file in your name. The tiers are on the pricing page.
AppealMyBan is an independent service. Not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Meta or Facebook.
The fuller question, whether you can be banned from Dating at all, is in can you be banned from Facebook Dating, and not sure you were banned covers the difference between a ban, a challenge, a glitch and a shadowban. This page decodes the three words people search.
We work out which routes are actually open to you, write the appeal where the app gives you a box for one, and file the routes outside the app in your name, the first inside 48 hours. We never ask for your password. Intake first, payment after.
Get my case built - $149Meta’s help article Who can use Facebook Dating, which we read on 4 October 2026, says you must “Be at least 18 years old”, “Have a Facebook account in good standing that is at least 30 days old” and “Live in a country where Dating is available”. It then says: “We may restrict which Facebook accounts can access Dating. If you can’t access or no longer have access to Dating, it might be because: You aren’t 18 or older. You have a new or inactive account. You went against our Terms of Service, Community Standards or other policies.”
Meta’s Facebook Dating Safety Policy repeats the three reasons and adds that “our Community Standards, which are also applicable to Facebook Dating, prohibit content and misconduct that threatens public or personal safety”. It has one line on appeals: “Learn how to appeal a violation of our Community Standards.” Meta publishes no Dating-only appeal form, and no reason code for a Dating decision. If Facebook suspended the account, its article My personal Facebook account is suspended or disabled says you can “appeal the suspension within 180 days”, that the period “varies by region”, and that without an appeal, or if it fails, “we’ll permanently disable your account”. Can you be banned from Facebook Dating walks through the routes.
Meta documents two checks that stop Dating without being a penalty. The first is verification. Its article Why am I being asked to verify my Facebook Dating profile? says: “To help keep our community safe, we may ask you to verify your Dating profile. If you need to verify your profile, a prompt shows when you open Dating. You can’t use Dating until you verify your profile.” In some states Meta also asks for age: “You can upload your ID or take a video selfie to verify your age”, and its age verification article says it “can take up to 20 minutes” and that you “will get a notification with the outcome”.
The second is location. Meta’s Location Mismatch on Facebook Dating page says: “If we find that your Dating Location doesn’t match your Primary Location, we may ask you to update your Dating Location. You can continue to message your existing matches, but can’t make new matches until your Dating and Primary Locations match.” It adds: “Keep in mind that using a VPN may cause your Dating and Primary Locations to mismatch.” We do not advise a VPN. If either state is yours, the fix is the check itself, and no appeal is involved.

Meta’s Transparency Center page Facebook Dating AI system, updated 7 March 2025, says Dating profiles are ordered by “one of the underlying AI systems” that decides which profiles are suggested to you and in what order. The last step is the one people mean: “Finally, certain integrity processes are applied to all results. These determine which integrity measures, if any, need to be applied to the profiles selected for ranking.” Meta does not say what a measure is or when one is applied.
Three other points on that page matter. The system “applies filters to remove profiles that you may not want to see based on things like your preferences or if a profile is incomplete”. It scores profiles on three predictions, how likely you are to exchange messages, to spend time looking, and to like, from 15 listed signals, including “How often other people like, pass on or exchange messages with the same profile” and “How much information has been added to the profile, including the length of the bio, quantity of photos and completed attributes”. And a profile you see is not a profile everyone sees: the gathering step “does not include anybody who you’ve blocked on Facebook or is currently your Facebook friend”.
None of the 15 signals is a policy flag. So a quiet profile has documented explanations that are not penalties: how others respond to it, how complete it is, and who is filtered out. Meta also offers a randomised view, “Not sorted”, for what you see. It changes your own view, not how your profile ranks for anyone else, so there is no outside test and no one can tell you whether a measure was applied. Anyone who says they can is guessing. The same kind of test for Tinder, Hinge and Bumble is the shadowban test.

The case check is free and takes two minutes. It tells you which routes are open on your ban, including the cases where it tells you not to pay anyone.
| Clock | Length | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook account age to use Dating | At least 30 days | Who can use Facebook Dating |
| After deleting your Dating profile | 7 days before a new one | Who can use Facebook Dating |
| Age verification by video selfie | Up to 20 minutes | Age verification |
| Appeal of a suspended account | 180 days, varies by region | Suspended or disabled |
| Oversight Board appeal of a content decision | 15 days from the decision | Oversight Board |
Meta’s help pages carry no date, so “read on” is the date that counts: we read them on 3 and 4 October 2026. Meta does not publish a turnaround for any Dating decision.
Meta decides, and nobody can promise a result, including us. We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. We never ask for a password. The free check takes about two minutes, and the Facebook Dating page shows what we cover.
Meta uses no such word for Dating. It documents a ranking system with “integrity measures” it does not describe, filters that remove incomplete profiles, and signals such as how others respond to a profile. It publishes no test for any of them.
Meta documents ordinary causes: your profile’s ranking depends on how others like, pass on or message it, incomplete profiles are filtered out, and a location mismatch stops new matches. It also may be an integrity measure, which Meta does not describe.
Meta gives three reasons for losing access: you are not 18, you have a new or inactive account, or you went against its Terms, Community Standards or other policies. Dating also needs a Facebook account in good standing at least 30 days old.
Both words describe different things. A block is a check, such as an unpassed video selfie or a location mismatch. A ban is a restriction on the account, which Meta says it may apply, or a suspended or disabled Facebook account.
For age verification by video selfie, Meta says it can take up to 20 minutes, with a notification of the outcome. Meta says “You can’t use Dating until you verify your profile.”
Meta says a VPN “may cause your Dating and Primary Locations to mismatch”, which stops new matches until they match again. It documents that as a check, not a ban, and we do not advise a VPN.
Meta has no Dating-only appeal. For a suspended Facebook account, log in and appeal within 180 days, which varies by region. For a removed post, use Request review. Nobody can promise a result.
Meta says “If you delete your Dating profile, you can’t make a new one for 7 days.” Meta does not say that deleting the profile lifts a restriction, and a new Facebook account must be at least 30 days old to use Dating.
