Can you get around a Hinge ban? What Hinge checks

Hinge’s own pages say a banned member cannot create a new account, and they name what stands behind that: a face comparison across accounts, data kept to stop a new account, and ban sharing across Match Group. The one route they name is the appeal.

The short version
✓Hinge’s help centre says: “If your account is Banned, you will not be able to create a new Hinge account. However, you can Submit an Appeal.”
✓The Terms, effective 25 August 2025, bar anyone “previously removed from our Services or our affiliates’ services” without “express written permission”, and list creating “a new account after we suspend or terminate your account” as a breach.
✓Face Check’s page is headed “Duplicate Account Detection”: each FaceVector “is compared to FaceVectors for other accounts”, and Selfie Verification results are kept 2 years if the account is banned.
✓The Privacy Policy keeps “data necessary to prevent members who were banned from opening a new account for as long as necessary”, and says a ban on one Match Group platform can follow to the others.
✓Hinge reversed 31,251 of 86,650 account appeals in 2025 (36.1%), at a median of 19 hours. That is the route that ends a ban. The others add a second breach.

Not on anything Hinge has published. Its help centre says a banned member “will not be able to create a new Hinge account”, its Terms treat a new account after a ban as a breach, and its Privacy Policy keeps data to stop one “for as long as necessary”. What it offers instead is the appeal, and in 2025 Hinge reversed 36.1% of the 86,650 account appeals it received. AppealMyBan handles exactly this: we write the appeal you send and file what a third party may file in your name. The tiers are on the pricing page.

The general question for every app is in how to get around a dating app ban. This page is the Hinge version: what Hinge’s own pages say it checks, how long it keeps the record, and what is open. We read every page below on 3 October 2026. How duplicate account detection arrived on Hinge with Face Check in 2026 is in banned from Hinge for no reason in 2026.

What Hinge says about a banned member coming back

Hinge’s help article Why was my account banned?, updated 29 June 2026, says: “If your account is Banned, you will not be able to create a new Hinge account. However, you can Submit an Appeal.” The Terms of Use, effective 25 August 2025, say the same thing three times in contract language.

Section 2A lists what you confirm when you use Hinge, including “You do not have any other accounts on our Services” and “You have not previously been removed from our Services or our affiliates’ services by us or our affiliates, unless you have our express written permission to create a new account.” The list of prohibited conduct includes “Create a new account after we suspend or terminate your account, unless you receive our express permission”. And the enforcement clause reserves “any personal, technological, legal, or other means available to enforce the Terms, at any time without liability and without the obligation to give you prior notice”.

The Terms do not name VPNs, second phones or new numbers. They do forbid you to “Forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers to disguise the origin of any information transmitted to or through our Services”. Nothing in these pages describes what Hinge detects or how. What they describe is the consequence, which falls on the person who tries.

One appeal is yours to send. The routes outside the app, we file.

We work out which routes are actually open to you, write the appeal where the app gives you a box for one, and file the routes outside the app in your name, the first inside 48 hours. We never ask for your password. Intake first, payment after.

What Hinge says it compares, keeps and shares

ItemWhat Hinge saysWhere
Face comparison“Your FaceVector is compared to FaceVectors for other accounts to help detect whether other profiles are using your likeness”Face Check page, 29 July 2026
Data kept against a new account“data necessary to prevent members who were banned from opening a new account for as long as necessary”Privacy Policy, section 9
Ban sharing“when a bad actor is found on one Match Group platform (for instance ours), they can be banned from all”Privacy Policy
Sign-up and device detailsIt collects phone number, email address and date of birth, and “IP address, device ID, device type” with network informationPrivacy Policy, Data We Collect

Hinge does not say which of these it uses against a banned member who returns, and we cannot tell you. The first row comes from a page headed “Mandatory Liveness, Photo Verification, and Duplicate Account Detection”, and the same page says Hinge may share Verification Data between affiliates “to make all Match Group services safer (e.g., identifying and banning violating accounts)”. The fourth row lists what is collected, not what is checked.

What the first three rows have in common is that each works across accounts, not inside one. A new login changes the account. It does not change the face on the photos, the data Hinge keeps against the old one, or the Match Group record behind it.

A dark smartphone lies face down beside a stack of notebooks on a rustic wooden table
Hinge’s checks work across accounts, so a new account starts with the old record behind it.

What a second account adds

The Terms say Hinge “may take necessary actions if we believe you have violated these Terms, including banning you from our Services and/or our affiliates’ services (such as Tinder, OkCupid, Match, Meetic, BLK, LoveScout24, OurTime, and Pairs ...), and/or preventing you from creating new accounts.” So a caught second account is a second breach on the same record, and the consequence can reach the other apps, not only Hinge.

We do not advise a new account, a new number, a new phone or a VPN. Each adds a problem to the first one, and none of them is a route that Hinge’s pages recognise. The Appeal button sits on the ban screen of the banned account, so keep that login and that screen. The step-by-step version is in can you get unbanned from Hinge.

How long the record lasts

RecordHow longWhere
Safety retention window“three months following account closure or up to two years following an account ban”Privacy Policy, section 9
Selfie Verification result and age estimate“until 90 days after your account is closed (or 2 years if the account is banned)”Face Check page, 29 July 2026
Data to stop a banned member opening a new account“for as long as necessary”Privacy Policy, section 9

The first two have ends. The third does not, and it is the one that explains why waiting does not help. A two-year window is a limit on how long Hinge keeps data to investigate, not a date on which a ban lifts. Banned from Hinge forever explains the difference.

What does end a Hinge ban

Hinge’s EU transparency workbook for 1 January to 31 December 2025, on Match Group’s safety resources page and published on 28 February 2026, records 86,650 internal complaints about account decisions, 55,399 upheld and 31,251 reversed, a reversal rate of 36.1%, at a median of 19 hours. It says appeals are reviewed by a dedicated human review team separate from the moderation team. If the appeal is refused, it also records 636 disputes sent to out-of-court dispute bodies: 161 reversed, 4 partly reversed, 136 upheld and 334 marked “decision omitted”, with 72.0% of outcomes implemented and a median of about 50 days.

So the evidence on what ends a Hinge ban is the appeal and, after it, the bodies above it, not a second login. Those figures describe all members. They do not tell you your odds, and nobody can promise a result. What you can control is the first appeal: it should answer the ground in the notice, with dates and what you can show. Hinge appeal denied covers what is open after a refusal.

What we file for a Hinge ban

  1. We read the notice and the record with you. We find the ground, check what Hinge says it kept, and note the date.
  2. We write the appeal text. Hinge takes the appeal only through the Appeal button on the ban screen, so we draft the statement and the list of what to attach, and you press send.
  3. We file what a third party may file, in your name, under a signed authority, copying you the moment it goes: the access request, the Match Group escalation desk where it applies, and an EU dispute body if you live in the EU.
  4. We answer what comes back. The Case is $149: every route found, drafted and filed, and every reply answered for 60 days. The Advocate is $349 and covers up to four apps from the same company.

A Hinge ban is Hinge’s to reverse; nothing we file changes it. We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. We never ask for a password. The free check takes about two minutes.

Questions people actually ask

Can you get around a Hinge ban?

Hinge’s help centre says a banned member “will not be able to create a new Hinge account”, and its Terms treat a new account after a ban as a breach. The route it names is the appeal, and we do not advise any other.

Can you make a new Hinge account after being banned?

The Terms require “express written permission” if you were previously removed. They also let Hinge ban a new account and affiliated services, and its Privacy Policy keeps data to prevent a banned member opening one. We do not advise it.

Does a VPN get around a Hinge ban?

Hinge’s pages never mention VPNs. Its Terms forbid manipulating identifiers to disguise where information comes from, and the checks it names, a face comparison across accounts and data kept against banned members, do not depend on a network address. We do not advise it.

Does Hinge ban your phone number?

Hinge publishes no list and no rule. It requires a mobile number to create an account and says it keeps “data necessary to prevent members who were banned from opening a new account”. It does not say that includes the number.

Can Hinge detect a second account?

Hinge’s Face Check page is headed “Duplicate Account Detection” and says each FaceVector is compared with other accounts. It does not publish how it recognises a returning member, so no one outside Hinge can say what it detects.

How long does a Hinge ban last?

Hinge publishes no end date. Its help centre says a banned account cannot create a new one, and its Privacy Policy keeps data to prevent that “for as long as necessary”. Its 2025 EU report says it does not apply suspensions.

How long does Hinge keep your data after a ban?

Up to two years in its safety retention window, and two years for Selfie Verification results if the account is banned. Data needed to stop a banned member opening a new account has no stated end.

What is the way back from a Hinge ban?

The appeal, inside the app from the ban screen. Hinge reversed 36.1% of 86,650 account appeals in 2025. After a refusal, EU residents have out-of-court dispute bodies, and everyone has an access request. Nobody can promise a result.
